Still
getting a kick out of playtime
June 10, 2002
That's right, that
game we all used to play during recess, on asphalt playgrounds. The game
with the big, red rubber ball is making a comeback, this time with adults.
Joe Szatmary of the
Midwestern Unconventional Sports Association organized the league, and
there are now 80 teams and more than 1,300 players. The rules of the game
are the same as softball, except you can throw the runner out by hitting
the player with the ball.
There are openings
for more teams for the fall season.
Asked why he likes
to play kickball, Rob Multerer said, "It's another night to hang out with
friends just like we did when we were kids and to have fun."
Appeared
in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on June 10, 2002.
